
Jorge Fernandes
Jorge Manuel Almeida Barros Fernandes holds a degree in Teaching Geology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, a pre-Bologna Master’s degree in Educational Sciences – specializing in Education for Development from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon, and is a PhD candidate in Research, Arts, and Humanities at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
He has been a teacher in Group 520 – Biology-Geology since 1984, holding a permanent position at the Vocational School of Geographical Sciences. He is currently seconded under the supervision of the environment and education ministries to LPN – the League for the Protection of Nature. Previously, he was seconded and later requisitioned by the Loures City Council, working at the Resource and Pedagogical Support Center from 1998 to 2001, where he coordinated Citizenship Education projects in the municipalities of Odivelas and Loures.
Since 1998, he has been teaching various continuous training courses for teachers in the field of Environmental Education and Environmental Sciences at several Continuous Training Centers of School Associations. He also coordinates teacher training activities at LPN’s Environmental Training Center. Additionally, he has participated as a speaker, moderator, and organizer in multiple courses, seminars, workshops, and lectures on Environmental Education.
