Marta Espírito Santo

Marta Espírito Santo is a teacher of Mathematics and Natural Sciences for lower secondary education at the Agrupamento de Escolas Professor Ruy Luís Gomes in Almada. She is also a lecturer in Environmental Education and Didactics of Environmental Studies at ISCE – Instituto Superior de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo. Additionally, she trains teachers in the fields of Science Didactics and Educational Technologies. For about 10 years, she has been involved at both national and international levels in developing educational activities related to the polar regions and the science conducted there. She is a member of the executive committee of PEI – Polar Educators International – and the Portuguese coordination team – PEI Portugal. She is also one of the coordinators of the SEMANAS POLARES event, a biannual initiative that connects scientists, teachers, and students. She has experience in implementing school projects, including Clube Ciência Viva na Escola and ERASMUS+. Currently, she is developing the ERASMUS+ project NBS4School: Empowering students to act for climate through Nature-Based Solutions.
