
Rosa Pinho
Rosa Pinho is a biologist specializing in vascular plant taxonomy and the curator of the Herbarium at the University of Aveiro.
Her work focuses on vascular plant taxonomy, plant ecology, ethnobotany, environmental education and awareness, and science communication and outreach. She has been actively involved in environmental education initiatives, engaging both schools and the general public. She is the author or co-author of several books, complete works, and book chapters, as well as scientific, technical, pedagogical, and outreach articles published in journals and newspapers.
She has led the flora and vegetation components of numerous Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Monitoring projects, and Protected Area Management Plans. In addition to working on projects in natural areas, she has contributed to studies on forests, parks, and gardens, including the botanical coordination of the SIG Parque de Serralves project, the Management and Planning Plan for the Bussaco National Forest, and the BRIGHT (Bussaco’s Recovery from Invasions Generating Habitat Threats) LIFE+ project. She has also been involved in educational and technological projects such as EduPARK—Mobile Learning, Augmented Reality and Geocaching in Science Education, developed in Parque Infante D. She participated in the Mapping of Natural and Semi-Natural Habitats project for sites classified under the Habitats Directive (Floradata, ICNF) and contributes to the development of nature trails, focusing on flora and vegetation. She is a certified trainer accredited by the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuous Training. Studying and promoting knowledge about flora, its habitats, and its significance is one of her main concerns, which she addresses through various initiatives of the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture (Ciência Viva).
