António Manuel Barata Tavares has a degree in Medicine, a postgraduate degree in Public Health and a PhD in Public Health. He belongs to the College of Public Health Specialists of the Ordem dos Médicos, and is a Public Health Consultant and Senior Graduate Public Health Assistant at the Health Services. He is the Health Delegate for Amadora and Invited Associate Professor at the National School of Public Health. He has published several books in the field of Health and several scientific papers in specialized journals. He has also won several scientific awards in the area of ​​Public Health.
